Dear Colleagues,
As decided at the last detector meeting at CERN on Dec.17, our
next intermediate detector meeting will take place on
February 9, at CERN, room 13-2-005, starting at 9:00.
The agenda will be announced soon, emphasis will be on
status of detector components in BRAHMS, engineering
aspects of the baseline detector, and new developments.
Let us recall the main results from the last detector meeting
at CERN, December 17:
1) Coil: Length will be 9.2m, because of field homogeneity
requirements for the TPC.
(This will be reconsidered at the February meeting
in the light of new info on dB/B as funtion of z
which will become available).
2) Intermediate Tracker: Two layers with ca. 10\mu 3d-resolution
at approx. radii of 15 and 30 cm. This ensures best
momentum resolution and efficiency for secondary vertex
finding for the different options of the vertex detector.
3) Calorimeter: Two options will be considered:
a) Shashlik for the electromagnetic and hadronic parts
(the CDR version already implemented in BRAHMS), and
b) SIW for the electromagnetic part together with tiles
for the hadronic part (to be implememnted within two months),
as the preferred baseline option.
Best regards,
Rolf and Ron
