Dear Colleagues,
As you know, the Santa Cruz Linear Collider Retreat is
approaching fast: June 27-29. An important objective
of this meeting is to set R&D goals and to make a plan for
meeting these goals, including who will carry out the R&D.
Calorimeters at a LC present some particularly intriguing
problems and issues, which range from specific technical points
to far-reaching issues involving simulations and/or many levels
of hardware R&D.
This email has two purposes:
1) A solicitation to join the Calorimeter Working Group.
Go to the following URL to see the current list, and send one
of us email if you wish to join:
http://www.slac.stanford.edu/xorg/lcd/calorimeter/
Santa Cruz will be a major gathering of the WG, but we
plan to begin bi-weekly meetings soon. (Details will appear
at the URL above.)
2) A call for talks at Santa Cruz. We expect a representative from
all interested groups to offer a short (5') presentation of R&D
interests/plans. Of course, there will be talks from people
currently engaged in R&D. And there will be several talks
which offer a broader perspective on the physics and technology
of LC calorimetry.
We are also planning a joint "Energy Flow" session with Simulations
group to discuss general simulation issues relating to calorimetry
as part of the parallel session program. Let us know if your talk
belongs there, although there will be limited time available.
For orientation, a list a R&D priorities from the ALCPG leadership
can be found at http://blueox.uoregon.edu/~jimbrau/LC/rdpriorities.
This, and other background information, including links to the
regional R&D consortia, can be found at the link in item (1) above.
We are expecting to have interesting sessions at Santa Cruz, and hope
to see you there.
Sincerely,
Dhiman Chakraborty <[log in to unmask]>
