Subject: 2008 Open Science Grid All Hands Meeting - March 3rd - hosted by RENCI
Dear Colleague
2007 has been an exciting time for the Open Science Grid! We have seen a consolidation and increased use of the Open Science Grid distributed infrastructure and software for production computation by existing and new users. We have seen the OSG activity teams form deep collaborations.
The 2008 All Hands Meeting, March 3rd-6th, will once again provide a forum for current and prospective OSG members, users, and partners to communicate, discuss and plan the work of the Consortium, the Project and the Facility. The meeting is hosted by the Renaissance Computing Institute at the Friday Center on the Campus of the University of North Carolina (a warm pleasant locale in springtime).
The meeting will focus on workshops and discussions for and among existing and new contributors to the Consortium - scientists, researchers, developers, administrators, partners and institutions. The current list of workshops includes site administration, biology applications, and the needs and status of campus and regional infrastructures. US ATLAS and US CMS are once again having co-located workshops for their tiered distributed computing facilities. The workshops are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday March 3 and 4.
Wednesday 5th March will see plenary sessions with a set of panel presentations and discussions covering OSG status and plans, science prospects, local and global cyberinfrastructures, training and communication, and other activities of which we are a part.
In addition, a training session for new users will be held on Thursday March 6, 2008. Also, if you are interested in taking advantage of the presence of many of our participants to have short, more focused meetings co-located with the "all hands" please do let us know.
To register or for more information, please visit the meeting web site <http://indico.fnal.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=1037> at
