We easily reached ~ 1Gbit/s transfer speed from BNL to SLAC for about 6 hours during a test. See the SLAC ESnet gateway graphs
http://www.slac.stanford.edu/comp/net/external-links/html/SLAC-Internet-Links.html
This is far from our current goal of 1.6Gbit/s and final goal of 3.2Gbit/s. But it is a step forward (from 200-300Mbit/s). The limiting factor is the two old GridFTP servers (v20z). Giving that SLAC's link to ESnet is 2x 1Gbit, going beyond 1Gbit/s will likely have a big impact to the rest of the lab. SCCS is working on upgrading SLAC-ESnet link to 10Gbit.
