ATLAS SCCS Planning 06Feb2008
-----------------------------
9am, SCCS Conf Rm A, to call in +1 510 665 5437, press 1, 3935#
Present: Richard, Stephen, Chuck, Tofigh, Peter, JohnB, Randy
Agenda:
1. Production
2. FDR-1
Only started yesterday, doing reconstruction on the express
stream. Monitoring has been posted and folk are beginning to
respond. Plan was to start the full reconstruction today, not sure
if it actually did. The output of that will be exported to the
Tier-1s then (the appropriate bits) to the Tier-2s.
3. Tier-2 Hardware
First set of machines were put in but also the first set were
deracked so only a small increase. Within two weeks should be up 50%
in capacity, the rest waits on the second Black Box coming on
line. A deal is almost ready to sell a quarter of the capacity to
the Light Science. In the first instance this will be completely
hidden from other users but eventually would think about
sharing. The fairshare for ATLAS will be adjusted correctly. Going
to be setting up a queue to help GLAST meet their turnaround
requirements. This will be a preemptive queue on their set of
machines. Jobs running will be suspended for around an hour while
the GLAST job runs, will try to avoid having the same job preempted
many times. At the moment it is setup to preempt jobs on the longer
queues first and to effect jobs that have been started most
recently.
Disk order information has gone to Teri but she is working about
half time just now. Get well soon! There is still a backlog of
storage to be installed so it isn't incurring any delay as yet but
if it takes too much longer it might.
4. Security Review
Site Assistance Review coming up. Bob has resigned from the OSG to
concentrate on this and other issues around security of the
site. Expect this process will have a significant impact on the
lab. Will need to segregate systems that are full supported (for
Windows this means local user doesn't have admin access) from
others. For systems that we don't have resources to centrally
administer may have little to no access to the Internet or central
services. Things need to be either locked down or isolated.
