Dear Colleagues,
Jim Brau recently sent out a request to University groups interested in linear collider detector R&D to submit individual project descriptions for the FY09 University-based US Linear Collider Detector R&D program by January 23, 2009. See http://physics.uoregon.edu/~lc/lcdrd/FY09-process.html
This year's program is different from those of previous years in that University groups are being asked to propose projects which contribute to answering the R&D needs of the Detector Concept Groups. The Silicon Detector Design Study, SiD, is in the process of discussing and refining its list of critical R&D, and assessing priorities. This process needs input from University Groups interested in contributing to SiD, and SiD hopes to establish some dialog with University Groups in time to be useful in their submission process, to coordinate University plans with SiD's.
SiD urges those groups interested in contributing to needed SiD R&D, to contact SiD's R&D Coordinators, Andy White ([log in to unmask]) and Marcel Demarteau ([log in to unmask]). SiD will be interested in factoring in plans from University groups, and in sharing and developing with them ideas about SiD's R&D priorities and needs.
You can learn more about SiD on our webpage: http://silicondetector.org/display/SiD/home
We look forward to hearing from you.
For SiD,
Harry Weerts and John Jaros
