Follow-up Comment #3, sr #119348 (project xrootd):
It looks like we have two options:
1) I can extend the client to set custom keepalive setting (via setsockopt
system call) and make it tuneable via environment variables so that you could
tweak it yourselves. Please note though that this will have any effect only on
Linux.
2) Following the advice from Andreas we could try to make the server closing
connections after 10-20 seconds of idleness so that client could see that the
connection is actually broken and reconnect. We could do that by setting the
following in the server config:
xrd.network keepalive
xrd.timeout idle 20
