Details:
Hi,
when upgrading from old xrootd v1.8 to xrootd v3.1.0 I wanted to also change
the disk format to the new one using xattrs. After converting namespace, I
ran following command:
frm_admin -c /usr/local/xrootd3/etc/xrootd/server/xrootd.cf convert old2new
spaces
It resulted to the following error:
[aliprod@xrootd3 ~]$ frm_admin -c
/usr/local/xrootd3/etc/xrootd/server/xrootd.cf convert old2new spaces
Converting dataspace starting at /mnt/fs1/
frm_admin: Do you want to proceed? (y | n | a): y
frm_admin: Unable to convert
/mnt/fs1/%mnt%fs1%00%22873%fcc3ce1a-61a3-11e1-ad74-4770feddc08d; error
1453807505
Conversion aborted!
No dataspace conversions performed.
Space conversion bypassed until namespace problems are fixed.
I have tracked the problem to XrdOss/XrdOssReloc.cc:127 which checks whether
return code of XrdOssCopy::Copy (int on this place) is possitive. the Copy()
function returns fileSize (off_t) when successful --> so on 64-bit platforms
when copying file between 2-4GiB, the int in XrdOssReloc overflows to
negative number which represents an error.
When I fixed the bug, I came across another error:
./src/frm_admin -c /usr/local/xrootd3/etc/xrootd/server/xrootd.cf convert
old2new spaces
Converting dataspace starting at /mnt/fs1/
frm_admin: Do you want to proceed? (y | n | a): y
frm_admin: Unable to convert
/mnt/fs1/%mnt%fs1%04%08727%5f30fbec-ace9-11e0-bf5b-001cc4624d66; no space
left on device
Conversion aborted!
Only 8218 dataspace conversions performed.
Space conversion bypassed until namespace problems are fixed.
This error is always reproducible, it manages to do ~8000-9000files every
run.
I didn't have enough time to track this one down.
I also tried v3.2.2, the behavior was the same.
Regards
Jiri Horky
