Details:
(alternately: xrdcopy should take a transfer list)
xrdcp appears to only be able to do a single file transfer. However, it's
fairly common to have a whole list of files - perhaps the content of a
dataset - that you'd like to transfer.
One can hook something silly together with a bash for loop and a text file,
but this is not very scalable as you are limited to a single concurrent
transfer, and you have to establish a new physical connection for each file.
I propose to implement something analogous to the "-f" option for
globus-url-copy. From their online help:
-f <filename>
Read a list of url pairs from filename. Each line should contain
<sourceURL> <destURL>
Enclose URLs with spaces in double quotes (").
Blank lines and lines beginning with # will be ignored.
Then, the "-S" option can indicate the parallelism level for the requested
transfers.
