Follow-up Comment #3, bug #96688 (project xrootd):
Hi Wei,
I realise that running xrootd on the client is strange - I think I should
explain my cluster configuration more thoroughly first.
Each machine in the cluster is a virtual guest running on a single host box,
and the cluster runs on a virtual network via libvirt. I have a script which
installs xrootd on each guest, and one of them gets assigned the client role
afterward. So the client gets an xrootd instance, even though it doesn't need
or use it. I tried stopping xrootd/cmsd on the client before issuing the mount
command just in case, but got the same behaviour.
I have one metamanager above two managers, each of which has two data
servers. Running the command you suggest gives me this:
[root@client1 ~]# xrd metamanager1.xrd.test locateall /data
------------- Location #1
InfoType: kXrdcLocDataServer
CanWrite: true
Location: '192.168.127.6:1094'

With regard to multiple NICs, each machine (guest) has only one (virtual)
NIC, which is bridged through to the host in the default NAT way. Although
there might be some complications with the way libvirt handles virtual
networks.
I do not have an /etc/fuse.conf on the client - I added those options to the
fstab, but still experienced the hang.
Thanks for your help so far,
Justin
