Follow-up Comment #4, bug #96688 (project xrootd):
Hi Justin,
I don't think it is a big problem to run xrootd on "client". There is a model
that the CPU resource and storage are co-located on the same set of machines.
We have strong reservation on using virtual machines as xrootd clusters. But
testing in a small set of VM should be OK, at least should work most of the
time. I am merely trying to get more info about your environment. A few more
thing:
1. What OS are your running? What xrootd RPMs are you using?
2. If you grep -i xrootdfs in your syslog, what do you see? Right after you
start xrootdfs, there should be a few lines there listing all your data
servers?
3. what if you point xrootdfs to one of your managers, not the meta manager?
4. what if you use "root://metamanager1.xrd.test:1094//data/", rather that
"xroot://..." (it shouldn't matter)
