That is less desirable because test data needs to be versioned
just like source code.
For the main LSST stack, we have placed the test data in
separate git repositories that are updated (and cloned) much less
frequently. See https:/dev.lsstcorp.org/cgit/LSST/DMS/testdata/*.git
Creating a testdata/qserv.git repository might be the best thing to do.
