Hello,
FYI, the xrootd.tar.gz at the qserv download site is not capable of
handling redirection in the face of replication. The symptom of this is
that the qserv master cannot find workers to execute for chunks that are
replicated on multiple workers. I believe this was encountered when
Emmanuel and Fabrice came to visit.
I put a fixed version over on AFS:
/afs/slac.stanford.edu/g/sds/qserv-misc/xrootd-qsPatch2.tar.bz2
Douglas, when you get a chance, it would be good to place this in the
distribution directory.
Details: The patched version disables a check in the redirector that
prevents writing to a file if multiple copies exist. This was to prevent
the possibility of inconsistent replicas and is a good idea when no file
invalidation mechanism is available, but is not necessary in qserv,
where "files" are used as communication channels.
Have a nice day,
-Daniel
