Is there any reason why the logging levels in your code
# logging levels
TRACE = 0
DEBUG = 1
INFO = 2
WARN = 3
ERROR = 4
FATAL = 5
are not aligned with standard python logging levels:
CRITICAL 50
ERROR 40
WARNING 30
INFO 20
DEBUG 10
NOTSET 0
