Greetings -
I've created a new qserv branch called u/bchick/integrateLog that integrates the new, log4cxx-based logging solution into parts of Qserv. This branch diverges from the master as of today (6/26). Specifically, the new logging can be activated for the ccontrol module of the C++ layer by including the preprocessor directive (#define) NEWLOG and activated for the entire Python-layer by setting the variable NEWLOG=True within logger.py.
It's important to note that these changes are incomplete and have NOT been tested. They are meant only to serve as examples of how to incorporate the new logging solution into Qserv. To complete integration of the new logging solution, the new log4cxx-based log system needs to be packaged and included as part of the Qserv distribution.
Also, even though I'm finishing up at SLAC this week, I'm still around and happy to help Fabrice package the new logging solution, which remains in my personal branch at u/bchick/log (I tried moving this to contrib/log but it seems I lack the permissions).
