If it is considered adequate, then we can leave it.  I just wanted to make sure because once we start to add a lot of conditions sets like pedestal calibrations per run, we are essentially stuck with it I think.

What is exactly problem? I am not sure I follow the reasoning.
Unless it makes coding hardships why change something that most of ECal people already are used to.
