Hi,
I don't think we will do this, ever. The epel packages are actually kept
in their version intentionally as:
1) I do not want to break ABI compatibility (changes in major versions
can do that)
2) RHEL 6.7 will contain 0.80.7 packages and this would make epel
packages obsolete base rhel packages which is no good
Please note that because of the second point it is unlikely that epel 6
will contain 0.80.8 or later versions of ceph packages. In fact, we
should probably delete the ceph packages from epel 6 altogether but
since we provide only client part in rhel 6 and the demand is fairly
high we will probably decide to keep ceph packages in epel 6.
I'd suggest using ceph-deploy to install Ceph Giant release but I'm not
sure whether it is finally in a decent enough state for it to be able to
install the packages (probably not). You can always use the upstream
ceph.com repos and install the packages manually though.
Regards,
Boris
