Dear All,

As you know, we have been working with the FNAL Visual Media Services team,
Jim Schultz and Al Johnson, led by Fred Ulrich to make the line Drive series
of Linear Collider talks available on streaming video both live and also
   in archived form.

The archived form has some neat potential. The audio-visual of the speaker
can be synchronized to the transparencies appearing in the other window.
A thumbnail provides the opportunity to easily pick up the talk at any
   point.

However there are limitations to what one can achieve given finite time
and finite resources. For example an asymptotically bad situation is that
when a speaker does not provide his talk in any form. Intermediate is when
he provides his basic talk, then uses several supplementary transparencies
at random places in his talk in response to questions. Clearly one does
not want to put the speaker in a straight jacket, but then to complete the
editing in a finite time, choices are made.

The discussion period is very difficult to handle and for the Grannis
talk the discussion was not included. The particular choice we have made
for the Holmes and Kronfeld Talks of January 25, is to include the
discussion, but not to attempt to follow the transparencies during these
phases. In fact the video of the speaker and the viewing of the slides is
asynchronous during this phase so, in principle, if the discussion
pertains to a slide used by the speaker, there is the opportunity to view
that slide (if you can find it).

I think it works, however we would like to understand whether or not this
feeling is shared by others, or not. Let me know.

   Regards, Mont
