Dear Colleagues,

Yesterday at the SLAC LCD meeting, Uriel Nauenberg pointed out that the
deadline is fast approaching for 2001 proposals to the DOE's Advanced
Detector Research program. This program is described at the web site

http://doe-hep.hep.net/adr_2002.html

Letter of intent are due on Sept. 25, and the actual proposals are due
Oct. 30.

In the year 2000, six grants were made under this program. The topics
are interesting for high lumnosity hadron collider and flavor physics
experiments. However, there are important detector R&D projects that
need to be carried out by the linear collider community, on topics such
as thinned CCD's and highly segmented calorimetry in strong magnetic
fields. If funding is available, it is a shame not to go after it.

Please have a look at this web page and see if it is of potential use to
your group.

                            Best wishes,

                                    Michael Peskin
