Dear Colleagues,

The University Consortium for Linear Collider R&D and the
Linear Collider Research and Development Working Group take
pride in releasing a comprehensive report on new proposals
for Linear Collider accelerator and detector R&D.

The report can be found on the web at the following url:
http://www.hep.uiuc.edu/LCRD/html_files/proposal.html

The report, entitled "A University Program of Accelerator
and Detector Research for the Linear Collider", consists
largely of a compilation of 80 subproposals, coordinated with the
help of the American Linear Collider Physics Group, authored by
University groups, and to be submitted to either the U.S.
Department of Energy or the National Science Foundation.
It is an impressive and coordinated response to the challenges
and opportunities posed by research at the Linear Collider.

The report has been released to the Accelerator and Detector
Review Committees for their detailed consideration and the
evaluation of the individual subproposals.

We in UCLC and LCRD hope this effort will
continue and grow in the next few years, and lead to a stong
national constituency for the Linear Collider.

Sincerely,

Ritchie Patterson, Joe Rogers, and Gerry Dugan
