To Linear Collider Tracking Group Members:

Now that the proposals are in for review with the DOE
and NSF, we'd like to begin a semi-formal series of
meetings of those with an interest in tracking for
a Linear Collider detector. We'd like to have our first
meeting sometime in early November: the format will
be a phone conference with supporting materials on
the WEB.

After some introductory remarks and discussion, we'd
like this first meeting to concentrate on simulation issues.
Since simulation is an essential component of making the case
for any given tracking technology, we'd like each group
to make an effort to take part in this phone meeting.
We envision subsequent meetings focussing on gaseous
tracking and solid-state tracking hardware.

==> All groups planning to work in the area of tracking
==> simulation, including physics studies that address
==> tracker design, should plan on making a short (5 min)
==> presentation of their goals and the current status
==> of their work during this meeting. PLEASE RESPOND if
==> you would like to do so.

The meeting will be scheduled for a 90 minute time
slot, with a goal of having it take place sometime during
the first week of November. Here are STARTING TIME WINDOWS
that are convenient for both the East and West Coast,
and the conveners' schedules:

Thursday October 31 9:30am - 10am Pacific Time (i.e. must start between
9:30 and 10:00 and run for 90' thereafter)

Friday November 1 10am - 1pm Pacific Time (i.e. must start between
10am and 1pm and run for 90' thereafter)

Tuesday November 5 8am - 10am Pacific Time
Tuesday November 5 12:30pm - 1pm Pacific Time

Wednesday November 6 10am - 12noon Pacific Time

==> Please respond with your group's preferences and
==> restrictions regarding these proposed starting times
==> for the 90 minute meeting

We are proposing the following for the program of the meeting:

0:00 - 0:15 Introduction (general tracking issues, grant approval
status, timelines, goals for Arlington meeting)

0:15 - 0:30 Talk on status and needs of tracking simulation

0:30 - 1:15 Short presentation from each group interested
in working on the simulation, regarding plans and
             status

1:15 - 1:30 Proposal for future coordination of simulation
             subgroup; discussion

Sincerely,

Dean Karlen
