Dear Colleagues, According to the AIP summary of the $820 billion omnibus appropriations bill passed by the Senate last week, spending for the DOE High Energy Physics Program is up 0.5%. Recall that the recently released Facilities for the Future of Science assumed a funding "envelope" based on the "Biggert Bill", which called for an increase in the DOE Office of Science's budget of approximately 8% for FY 2004 to be followed by increases of 11%, 15%, and 15% in the subsequent three years. To quote Dr. Marburger in his appearance at the Fermilab User's meeting last June: "You do the calculation". Norman Graf P.S. The administration will release its FY2005 budget request on Monday.
