Dear Colleagues, Please take note of the following initiative. Details of the proposal can be found at http://www-flc.desy.de/eurotev/esgard_review.pdf . Norman Graf More than 20 European institutes are joining forces on a Design Study for a Linear Collider in the TeV energy range. While waiting for the deliberations of the ITRP for the choice of acceleration technology a consortium of European research labs is trying to address some of the remaing high ranking issues identified by the TRC. The consortium is preparing a bid to be submitted to the EU framework program (FP6) and has chosen to tackle the following tasks: * Beam Delivery Systems (BDS) * Damping Rings (DR) * Polarised Positron Source (PPS) * Diagnostics (DIAG) * Luminosity Performance Studies (BDYN) * Metrology & Stabilisation (METSTB) * Global Accelerator Network (GANMVL) These activities are expected to be complemented by studies in the Americas and in Asia to enable the complete design of a linear collider in the TeV-energy range. There will be an open meeting on February 20th, 2004 at Daresbury Laboratory to introduce the scope of the project. Details can be found on the (evolving Web page) http://www-flc.desy.de/eurotev/
