Hi-

I've been waiting to present this material at a meeting but with the build up
to ICHEP and ICHEP itself, we haven't been able to meet. So, i may as well
just send it around now...

We have implemented a partial reco with D* -> D pi0 and D*0 -> D0 pi0 while
also making a small improvement to the previous PR of D* -> D0 pi+

I have a webpage with plots, etc here:

http://www.slac.stanford.edu/BFROOT/www/Physics/Analysis/AWG/InclusiveSL/vub-nosf/ejhill/partreco/comparison.html

The key points are the following:

For the pi+, in recoilNtp the selection simply looks for the lowest momentum
charge correlated pion. We added one further constraint: that the pion
momentum also be below 200 MeV. The result is that the efficiency, s^2/s+b
are improved slightly and the distribution of the efficiency vs missing mass
cut is flatter for the b2u events. Also, improvement is visible in the B->pi
lv mode of the mX distribution.

For the selection of D*(0) -> D(0) pi0 we dont have the use of the charge
correlation between the pion and leading lepton. Instead we used the opening
angle between the 4-vector leading lepton and the pi0.
The pi0 with the lowest momentum is taken that passes these cuts:
1. momentum below 200 MeV
2. opening angle with the leading lepton > 2.2 rad
3. neutral multiplicity > 4

I realize that a cut on neutral multiplicity for the selection of the pi0s
might raise an eyebrow, so i included before cut / after cut distributions of
the neutral multiplicity on the wepage also to demonstrate we are not
rejecting much high-multiplicity b->u. If you don't use the neutral
multiplicity, the b2u events peak at mm^2=0, and thus the method is useless.

Please have a look at the webpage for the results.

Cheers,
Ed
