Looking through the documentation, e.g http://docs.sun.com/db/doc/806-7991 and http://docs.sun.com/db/doc/816-2460 plus some other stuff, I think that libCstd is being linked statically on sol8 (WS6U1) while with Forte7 it winds up being linked as a shared library. That explains both the need for the link order and the fact that the library is missing in the sol8 build when I look with 'ldd'. I tried on sundev with this fix and it worked for me. I was able to start xrootd and load the libXrdOfs library. Jean-Yves, I'll announce a new version/build in a few minutes.
