Hi Gregory, Yes, that's the default wait time at start-up to make sure that all of the data servers have had a chance to connect. Clients will be delayed until the priod goes by so no real harm is done (especially since start-ups shouldn't happen very often). You can adjust the start-up wait time to whatever value you like using: olb.delay startup <sec> Remeber the smaller the value the greater the probability that some requests may be redirected to staging servers or just fail if no staging servers are available because all of the data servers did not have a chance to connect. Data servers have their own cycle time for connects and you can't go below that value or you indeed will run into problems. The wait cycle time is set at 10 seconds, and currently is not changeable (we found that is a good value). The rule of thumb is the service delay should be no less than 20 seconds. We chose 90 seconds to be absolutely sure, es[pecially if there are a lot of data servers.
