To potential participants in an ILC detector concept study. ---------------------------------------------------------- Addressed to all members of the ECFA, ACFA and ALCPG studies on physics and detectors for the International Linear Collider >From Ties Behnke, Hitoshihi Yamamoto, Marco Battaglia, Henri Videau, Andy White, David Miller Dear colleague, INVITATION TO NOMINATE CONTACTPERSONS FOR THE "LDC" CONCEPT At the workshop near Paris from 13-15 January (see http://polywww.in2p3.fr/actualites/congres/ilcd2005/ for programme and links to talks) it was agreed to set up an interregional team to study and prepare the concept of a detector with gaseous tracking for the International Linear Collider. The working name of this concept is "LDC", to distinguish it from the "SiD" and "GLD" concept teams which are also getting started now. The opening talk of the workshop explains the context of this request in the plans for the Global Design Effort for the ILC. The LDC concept team will be led initially by 6 contactpersons, two from each region. If you are interested in joining this concept study we invite you to suggest names for the contactpersons. Those present at the workshop asked a consultative group (email addresses below) to receive your nominations and choose the contactpersons, paying attention to the need for a balance between expertise in the various sub-detector technologies which will be involved (TPC, microvertex, calorimetry, forward region, muon identification etc.) We expect that many of the contactpersons will be actively involved in ongoing sub-detector R&D programmes. Please send your nominations (including email address of each nominee, and details of their current detector R&D involvement) by 11 February to the consultative group: Rolf Heuer <[log in to unmask]>, Jim Brau <[log in to unmask]>, Sachio Komamiya <[log in to unmask]>, "Yamamoto, Hitoshi -- Hitoshi Yamamoto" <[log in to unmask]>, Hitoshi Yamamoto <[log in to unmask]>, Mark Oreglia <[log in to unmask]> David Miller <[log in to unmask]> We need to have the contactpersons in place and ready to speak for LDC before LCWS at Stanford 18-22 March. Yours ever Ties, Hitoshi, Andy, Marco, Henri, David (on behalf of the workshop participants)
