Dear Colleagues, The FY2006 budget request incorporates significant program shifts which reflect the recommendations from HEPAP. You can read about them at: http://www.sc.doe.gov/orm/Budget_Finance/FY_06_Budget/HEP.pdf#page=12 In particular: " In order to address the opportunity for significant new future research options, R&D in support of an international electron-positron linear collider is increased relative to FY 2005 to support the continued international participation and leadership in linear collider R&D and planning by U.S.scientists. The long-term goal of this effort is a construction start on an international Linear Collider in the next decade. To provide a nearer-term future program, and to reserve future research options, R&D for other new accelerator and detector technologies, particularly in the emerging area of neutrino physics, will also increase. The Linear Collider has been judged of the highest scientific importance by HEPAP as well as by advisory bodies of the Asian and European HEP communities. " Thanks to Fred et al.!
