ATLAS SCCS Planning 27Sep2006
-----------------------------

  9am, SCCS Conf Rm A, to call in +1 510 665 5437, press 1, 3935#

Present: Stephen, Charlie, Steffen, Chuck, JohnB, Randy, Booker

Agenda:

1. DQ2 Status/Web Proxy

Talked about running web on default ports. This would mean
privileged access. Perhaps not a good idea after all. Needs some
    thought.

Deployed a new version of the cleanup script. Has cleaned up a lot
more than the previous version. Main difference is that it uses the
time in the database instead of the filesystem.

2. Slots for ATLAS Production jobs and other batch related stuff

Trying to reexamine the way fair-shares are given out overall. This
will be mapped more to what the groups have contributed to the
pool. Puts ATLAS in an disadvantaged position as it hasn't contributed
yet. However, expect to place an order soon, after the end of the
FY. Expected the money to arrive mid-September. We should start
getting quotes right around now. Rough computation was 9 10TB file
    servers and 52 4-core 4GB nodes. This was 1/3 storage and 2/3
CPU. Might be part of a bigger order with KIPAC. They want 8GB and
16GBs in some nodes. The ATLAS requirement is 2GB per core should
consider getting more memory. There is also memory bandwidth
benefits from only filling half the slots, the new machines have 16
slots so with 8 1GB DIMMS have half empty. Can get a quote both
ways to help decide which way to go. Not sure it will be in time
for next week and following week will not be well attended, so may
circulate in email. With the price KIPAC is quoted would mean 38
nodes. Need to see the quotes to be sure of the numbers, not clear
now if the 52 nodes was a correct number.

3. AOB

    - Tier 2 web page

Is it ready to go? Think so, its up.

Web page has batch queue information (how long is a SLAC second
and which queues have what limit?)? Don't know of one. Stephen
      will write one.

Action Items:
