The game will be held today August 27th at Noon. Please get your travel plans laid out so you can leave SLAC at 11:45 and be ready to play by 12. The field is reserved for our use. For those that have never been there, go east on Sand Hill Road, turn right on Stock Farm road and make the first left onto Oak. It will be the first field on your left. Come on down and play on a flat field with no manhole covers. It's a 90 meter by 40 meter field so we can handle up to 11 a side. Glenn PS Graeme emailed and said he needs a ride. If you are driving, please let your soccer buddies know so they can carpool with you. PPS Make sure you get approval from your supervisor for the additional time away from work. I'm sure you can work something out with him/her to make up the time you are missing. Remember SLAC frowns on paying for playing soccer, especially for hourly employees. See you there. It has been a pleasure getting to know and play alongside you all; back home in NZ we only played once a week and even then we only got about six players on average. That's six players total, not six a side... If anyone turned up with shin guards you knew they were serious, and since we had a few people who'd play in bare feet (!) there was an unspoken rule, no cleats. (In fact I didn't own any cleats until I moved to London 2 years ago - but that's another story.) We had piles of clothes for goals and if you kicked the ball too hard and it went on the road you had to go get it and then take on goalkeeping duties. Sidelines were arbitrary and optional. And we had a few injuries but mostly due to unco-ordination. Still working on that. So yeah, I will certainly look back on my SLAC soccer days with great fondness and next time I come over as an SSRL 'user' I will have to remember to pack my soccer gear. :) Well, hope to see you on the 27th (I am at Argonne this week and half of next) Bridget ________________________________ From: Garcia, Luciano J. She is returning home and her last game will be Monday August 27th. She was asking about playing a full field game which we can either do at lunch or in the evening on August 27th. I'm trying to determine which time (lunch or after work) would work the best for most of us. A lunchtime game will probably take at least two hours so you will have to get approval for an hour or an hour and a half away from work. Please send me an email response with your preference.
