            Call for Expression of Interest to Host
             the 2008 Linear Collider Workshop (LCWS08)

The 2008 joint meeting of the Linear Collider Workshop on Physics and
Detectors for the International Linear Collider and the ILC Global
Design Effort is planned to be held in the Americas in the fall
of 2008.

Organizations interested in hosting are invited to indicate such
interest formally with an email to Jim Brau
([log in to unmask]) and Mike Harrison ([log in to unmask])
by September 28, 2007, including in this formal expression of interest,
initial considerations on the details of the meeting (see below).
All  emails received will be acknowledged with a reply.

Detailed proposals based on the expressions of interest will be invited
and due by October 19.  These will complete the details on the
specifications outlined below, as well as providing other relevant
information.

Selection of the favored venue will be made in November by members from
the Americas of the World wide Study Organizing Committee, jointly with
the Global Design Effort, and final approval is expected at a World-wide
Study Organizing Committee meeting.


  DETAILS OF THE MEETING (TENTATIVE)

  Dates:      Early Fall, 2008 (October)

  Expected attendance:  >500 likely (450-600 possible)

  Plenary sessions:  The plenary session hall should seat 500
                     The expected plan would be to hold full day plenary
                        sessions in the main hall on the 1st and 5th
                        days, and some short sessions on days 2, 3, or 4,
                        such as late afternoon colloquia.
                     Describe facility.

  Parallel sessions: The parallel session will normally consist of up to
              10 sessions being conducted at any time.  Describe
              rooms, capacity, layout, etc.

  Additional rooms:  Small additional rooms for committee meetings are
                        also desirable.  Describe.

  Banquet (evening of 4th day) - arrangements for companions are
  required; describe proposed facility, capacity, menu, costs, etc.

  Welcome reception on arrival.  Describe plan.

  Conference reception (evening of 1st day) - specify plan.

  Other meals (eg. lunches) arrangements to be proposed by host.

  Technical Support, including meeting room facilities, and internet
  access for participants, such as through wireless networking,
  and desktop connections - specify.

  Administrative/Clerical Support - describe plans for staff support.

  Registration Support - describe plans.

  Provide an initial budget estimate, with the estimated registration
  fee.

  What kinds of accommodations are available at or close to the meeting,
  and what are their typical costs?

  What transportation will be available between the accommodations
  and the meeting place?  What parking is available in each location?

  Please provide information on web sites that would give additional
  information on the venue, facilities, accommodations, or other relevant
  factors.
