ATLAS SCCS Planning 19Sep2007
-----------------------------

  9am, SCCS Conf Rm A, to call in +1 510 665 5437, press 1, 3935#

Present: Randy, Wei, Stephen, Chuck, JohnB, Richard, Charlie

Agenda:

1. DQ2 Status/Web Proxy

Nothing this week. Were finally able to get data from BNL. Things
were running well till yesterday when pilots stopped coming to
SLAC. Someone changed a PANDA configuration which broke things,
Kaushik asked someone else to fix it and that went wrong too. DQ2
    down now for power outage.

Started to test dq2-cr (copy & register) for sites without (any or
stable) DQ2. Trying it for WI just now.

2. Tier-2 Hardware

Including the next acquisition in the Fall Purchase. Getting a
costing for Black Box #2. Hope to get it in by the first
January. PPA really want to make sure this doesn't get stalled.

Sun will have quad core AMD and Intel. Also will look at a
Quad-core Quad-socket 1U server from another company. Sun rolled
out their 4100 family last week. This has 16 DIMM slots and 8 drive
(SAS, only 6 for SATA) bays in 1U. Evaluation machines should be
coming in soon. Will be available like eval01 (Dell Intel Quad
    core).

For storage it will probably be Thumpers again unless something
better comes along. There is a new sales team so everything needs
    to be renegotiated again.

3. AOB

    - Power Outage

In the midst of the power outage, everyone itching to get out and
      get back to work.

    - Black Box

Turning on Black Box this week. Power and cooling is on. Systems
are installed. There is an outage of the box tomorrow to do some
      changes to the cooling.

It contains 252 machines identical to the boers (except instead
of two 250GB disks there is one 500GB drive). There was a problem
with the lubricant on the 250GB drives, failures have been above
the 1-2% level, almost to 10%.

    - Meetings

Not too many hot topics, will drop default frequency to two
weeks. Will have meetings every week when topics arise or busy
      seasons (like around purchases).
