Agenda:
1. DQ2 Status/Web Proxy
Upgraded to 0.4, seems to work but production doesn't use
it. PandaMover does but it still has the problem of moving files
from tape to disk. Most Tier-2s currently don't have enough jobs to
run. Things are functioning well at Tier-2s but there is the tape
issue at BNL.
2. Tier-2 Hardware
Order gone in for 40 machines (life fell cluster, 8 core Intel
machines). Storage still to be worked on. Most money will go for
that plus a piece of a switch. Expect it will be four weeks or so
before we see the machines. The money did arrive.
3. tcsh with larger environment space
Not sure if we should support a recompilation of a version as
RedHat currently supports the version we use. Could take the RPM
from a later release and back port it. Also have 6.14 from
TheWrittenWord. Will see if this version would fix the issue.
[JohnB sent the path and I tried it while waiting for SLAC to
rejoin the conference, it seems to work. Can my shell be switched
to this so I can make sure other issues don't come up?]
Folk can use bash to get around this problem.
For getting a different shell the chsh doesn't work. It needs a
daemon to be running on the NIS master but that daemon doesn't lock
files that other operations run on. Will think about how this could
be made to work.
4. Tier2/3 Workshop
Office of communications has been handling it. Everything is moving
well. They recently sent email about signs they will post around
the site. Will request an additional date (Tue 27th) so they can
send someone to arrange tables and chairs. Have around 38 people
registered, expecting 50 to 60.
