Dear Colleagues,
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was interviewed yesterday
on National Public Radio's "Morning Edition" program. The topic
of the interview was on the upcoming SCHIP (State Children's
Health Insurance Program) vote and the wider legislative agenda.

Describing the economic stimulus package, she repeated her oft-heard
mantra on the priorities for this new Congress:

"If you want four words to describe this, it's Science, Science,
Science, and Science"

At a meeting of national leaders in politics, business, research
and education held at Princeton on December 15, 2008, she said
"We stand by this as the most important investment that we can make
in health and education and energy independence, job creation and the
defense of America," but warned that supporters of science must become
active advocates for science research funding.
