Hi,

I would like to point people to Emil's talk today
(http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=50976#2009-09-02) on
platforms. Some points to note:

    - SLC5 as primary development platform
    - Deployment of SLC5 releases before ATLAS turn-on.
    - Switch of lxplus to SLC5 is imminent.
    - Many sites already SLC5 (running SLC4/gcc34 binary).

What Emil did not say is:

    - 15.54.0-SLHC _requires_ SLC5/gcc43(64-bit). Production use.

We must move our worker nodes to SLC5 (equivalent) as soon as possible.
Older releases still run. It will allow running 15.54.0-SLHC. We also need
at least one interactive node with SLC5. Cheers.

Charlie
