Dear Colleagues, The Chancellor George Osborne has announced that the UK's science budget will be frozen in cash terms at £4.6bn per year for the next four years. Accounting for inflation, this would be a cut of less than 10% over four years. It had been feared that cuts of up to 25% would be imposed. The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), however, due to its fixed international commitments, remains vulnerable to cuts in its programs. The BBC has an article providing more details. You can find it online at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-11579949 Sincerely, Norman Graf
