Details:

[root@eosatlassrv1 ~]# xrd eosatlas existdir /eos/atlas
The directory exists.

[root@eosatlassrv1 ~]# echo $?
0
[root@eosatlassrv1 ~]# xrd eosatlas existdir /eos/atlasas
Directory not found.

[root@eosatlassrv1 ~]# echo $?
0


Probably the same for many other commands.
(This is requested  by ATLAS users ...)
