Regarding the question that was raised today on left-handed vs right-handed Higgs, I just did a quick search on left-right symmetric model and found the following paper:

http://prd.aps.org/abstract/PRD/v40/i5/p1546_1

which describes left-right symmetric models, and in particular the Higgs sector of the LR theories.
