Follow-up Comment #1:
This means that you have mounted an EXT3 file system and have not enabled
extended attributes. This problem goes away in the most recent version of
RedHat Linux (but not all other distributions). The "fix" is described in
http://xrootd.org/doc/prod/frm_migr.htm#_Toc284350516
Thank you for pointing this out. That section of the documentation should be
moved to ofs/oss documentation.
