Follow-up Comment #1, bug #91148 (project xrootd): I just tested this and xrootd honors the mode for mkdir. One of two things may have confused you: 1. xrootd always adds mode 0700 to whatever mode you specified. This is because xrootd has ownership of directories and obviously needs unfettered access. 2. You may have been running with an of or oss plugin. In this case all bets are off.
