Hi Lukasz,

I notice that this requires libevent 2.x.

This is going to be highly problematic with downstream packagers as RHEL ships libevent 1.4.x, and all the downstream packagers for RHEL platforms (EMI, OSG, EPEL) have a policy in place to not ship software that is already shipped by the OS.

Mind you, the downstream packagers are quite creative folks and may be able to come up with some work-around. However, you'll basically be constantly fighting them over this until RHEL7 becomes widespread in, oh, 5-6 years.

So - are the improvements from 1.4.x to 2.x worth 5-6 years of headaches?

Brian
