As for "Are you absolutely sure there is no mismatch between the executable
and the shared libraries?": Well, I am not absolutely sure - I uninstalled
the old xrootd RPM and installed a new one (with a different name) ... let's
say that the rpm used for xrootd packaging has not been built from the best
written .spec file in the world, but looking at the lsof, it seems ok to me.
