Other follow-up:

There is documentation at
https://confluence.slac.stanford.edu/display/hpsg/Documentation that
addresses some of the concerns people brought up.

This documentation is by no means complete, and the best way to fill in
holes is if people ask questions and the answers are put in Confluence.

I'm working on fixing this anyway (due to a small issue this causes when calculating multiple scattering) so this will go away. The reason it doesn't show up in an ideal detector is that the pairing is 1-2, 3-4, etc. which means that if these are top and bottom layers it compares stereo with stereo and axial with axial and so they are always parallel in the ideal geometry. It also explains why this doesn't really cause any problems for producing hits in general.

Those not at SLAC seem to get nowhere. The issue is not that people at SLAC are not willing to help, but due to the distance help is slower, plus non-SLAC collaborators are not using the SLAC computers.
