I will also try and play a bit with the code, I think I understood I should
look into
Config.ossFS->Stat(...)
can you confirm this?
About the last question:

This is what the local team told me . Clearly there are executables which you
can use for that (specific of GPFS+TSM), but if you do not want to go beyond
"stat/stat64" and be not too much specific, that seems the best option...
