Follow-up Comment #6, sr #135998 (project xrootd): As a response to Brian's comment below (sent via plain email); of course we will be fully compatible. I don't yet know how but it will likely be implemented as special file system extensions and you get to specify for your particular file system. The current semantics will not change unless you specifically ask for new ones in this area. It's just clear that online/offline storage needs to be differentiated and the current way we do this is like using a hammer to pound in a 1 penny nail. Do we know how other OSS plugins handle blocks? For example, take a look at xrootd-hdfs: https://github.com/bbockelm/xrootd-hdfs/blob/master/src/XrdHdfs.cc#L644 I leave st_blocks untouched. We should make sure this semantic change is well-advertised to plugin writers Brian _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://savannah.cern.ch/support/?135998> _______________________________________________ Message sent via/by LCG Savannah http://savannah.cern.ch/ ######################################################################## Use REPLY-ALL to reply to list To unsubscribe from the XROOTD-DEV list, click the following link: https://listserv.slac.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=XROOTD-DEV&A=1
