URL: <http://savannah.cern.ch/bugs/?100605> Summary: XrdCl (xrdcopy) performance worse Project: XROOTD Submitted by: apeters Submitted on: 2013-02-25 08:22 Report Type: Bug Priority: 5 - Normal Severity: 4 - Important Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: ljanyst Originator Email: Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Fixed by commit(s): _______________________________________________________ Details: The performance of the copy implementation with the new client is ~ 25% slower. This is easily reproduceable and the results are stable: [root@eosdevsrv1 build]# time xrdcp -np root://localhost//eos/dev/2rep/1G - > /dev/null real 0m8.955s user 0m0.556s sys 0m1.504s [root@eosdevsrv1 build]# time xrdcopy --nopbar root://localhost//eos/dev/2rep/1G - > /dev/null real 0m11.046s user 0m0.893s sys 0m1.164s ( file is always cached on server side and server is exclusive to the client ). We see similar performance degradation when using the XrdCl classes directly. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://savannah.cern.ch/bugs/?100605> _______________________________________________ Message sent via/by LCG Savannah http://savannah.cern.ch/ ######################################################################## Use REPLY-ALL to reply to list To unsubscribe from the XROOTD-DEV list, click the following link: https://listserv.slac.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=XROOTD-DEV&A=1
