It seems this can be done easily by modifying template file 
"admin/custom/etc/local.qserv.cnf" :

next line :
scratch_path=/dev/shm/qserv
could be for example replaced by :
scratch_path=/dev/shm/%(QSERV_BASE_DIR)s

We tests this and told you about.
