Dear Colleagues,
				   Something to discuss at the Brookhaven workshop is the proposal to use DELPHES 3 as a fast detector simulation. DELPHES is supported in the  MADGRAPH+PYTHIA showering + DELPHES  chain to allow detector-level studies. DELPHES v3 is the currently supported version and it has been shown to work and has been checked to be very similar to the older DELPHES v2 (latter is no longer supported). 

				   Comparisons of ATLAS and CMS detector parameters and performance have shown that they are very similar, with the differences expected to have minimal impact on sensitivity predictions. To enable us to work as a single community efficiently, it makes sense to implement a single "Snowmass" detector as a representative LHC detector that combines the features of ATLAS and CMS.  Over the last few weeks, many conversations have resulted in the attached tables, containing ATLAS and CMS parameters and a proposal for such a "Snowmass" detector configuration. 

				   Final details of this combined configuration are to be discussed and fixed. The general idea is that, for performance metrics related to calibration (e.g. calorimeter constant terms) and software/algorithms, we can take the Snowmass detector to be represented by the better of the ATLAS and CMS estimates, since both experiments will strive for the best performance. In a few cases where the as-built hardware parameters cannot be changed (eg. calorimeter sampling terms), the average is taken as representative.  

				  Please take a look at the tables, so that we can make final decisions at Brookhaven. Many people are already working hard on generation of common background files, so we need to proceed with detector simulation.
