Hello Tom, Thanks for looking into the detector model in such detail. To accomodate the shielding cone we have introduced a detector element which increases the bore of the calorimeter as you go out in |z|. Please take a look at the 3d pdf file, especially the cutaway "Cross Section YZ." Please let me know if you have any other questions.
