Emmanuel Thanks for writing it up! We talked some more here at slac later about metadata, and ultimately we concluded we should use the new metadata (and parser/query dispatch system) for the large scale tests. These features are ready and complete, they just need to be reviewed and merge to "next". If we don't put them into the large scale test, they will stay outside of the master and next until October (due to the review crunch), which would not be good.
